Design Feature Series: White Wood Homes

As you drive through the peninsula, you may notice quite a few White Wood Homes signs, with five projects confirmed in Rangitahi - these local legends are making their mark with beautifully crafted homes for generations to enjoy. Originally from Raglan, Malachi & Hannah know the lay of the land and understand the lifestyle that families are looking to enjoy by living in Rangitahi. We had a chat with White Wood Homes to see what they have coming up in Rangitahi and what sets them apart.

Could you give yourself a little bit of an introduction, and how you are connected to the Rangitahi project

We are a Waikato based building company called White Wood Homes, and we are (Malachi and Hannah Farrant) the managing directors. We are a family operated business and love offering a personal touch with each and every build we do. Malachi is a qualified and licensed Master Builder and is the guy that makes sure your project runs smoothly, on time and on budget. Hannah is in charge of the administration side of the business and is our design consultant who oversees the design of your plans and helps with making all of your build decisions.

Our building team is super important to us and we are lucky to have the team of guys we have, who are all very hardworking, skilled and passionate about what they do.Malachi spent a lot of his life growing up in his family home at the end of Opotoru Road right before the old causeway, which is now the Rangitahi bridge. We then built our home in Raglan back in 2017 and lived there for four years with our sons, Elijah and Milo. Because of our connection to Raglan we have secured builds in Rangitahi from past clients, word of mouth and from people we know in the community.

How long have White Wood Homes been building in the Waikato?

We have been building homes throughout Hamilton, Cambridge, Raglan and the wider Waikato region for 12 years.

Where are you based?

We used to be based in Raglan, but mid last year, we completed our live-in showhome in St Kilda, Cambridge so are currently based there now.

What are your first impressions of The Rangitahi Project?

We think it's great! We love the community vibe, the stunning views and the thought and planning that has gone into the infrastructure. It really is an epic spot to build!

Rubix Architecture render

Do you have any projects going on (or coming up) at Rangitahi?

We have just begun a project for our local clients and the foundation work is about to begin. This is a beautiful project designed by Rubix Architecture. We then have four other design and builds confirmed and are currently working on other projects in the area.

Do you have any favourite cladding combos right now – are you seeing any notable trends for new builds coming up?

We always love using natural timbers in our builds, but for our recent showhome we used reclaimed bricks, Nu-wall cladding and horizontal linea oblique, and we think it's a winning combo!

What sets your building company apart?

You will deal directly with us, the company owners, throughout the build process, we use our own experienced building team for every build, and we have a White Wood Homes 400 point checklist that we follow to complete your home. This is to ensure every aspect is covered and that the time frame and budget is met.

What do you enjoy most about working with your clients?

We always love bringing our clients' vision to life and seeing their pure excitement when we hand over the home at the end.

What are the biggest challenges you’re facing at the moment within the construction industry?

At the moment, the supply issues with building materials and the constant price increases are the biggest challenges in the industry. However, we're managing this issue by being super organised with our schedules and ordering everything before we begin each build.
