The Rangitahi Affordable Housing Project
Celebrating the Rangitahi Affordable Housing Project.
The very first section release here on Rangitahi has been with our locals in mind. We wanted to give 'first dips' to the Raglan community in the form of an attractive price point to the local pool of interest. This has been received incredibly well and many locals jumped at the opportunity, which was fantastic to see. Moving forward, the Rangitahi Affordable Housing Project in collaboration with Wainui Construction has been another beautiful opportunity to give back.
Project Partners: Rangitahi, BNZ and supporters, Red Architecture and Kiwi Designer Homes. Inspired by Nightingale Housing in Melbourne, we wanted to provide an opportunity for five Raglan families to purchase their first home at cost price. The project is covenanted to protect the lower purchase price and provide benefits to families over a longer period of time. This is one response to the current housing challenges in Raglan.
The 18-month-long process to get the project approved and funded has been challenging, and we are thrilled to have now found fantastic purchasers for these homes.
A word from one of the purchasers and now proud Rangitahi residents:
- Tell us a little about the struggle of finding a place to call home in Raglan?
We had been trying to buy our first home here in Raglan since 2019, but with the pandemic, house prices soaring, and the banks constantly shifting the goalposts on us. It felt like no matter how hard we saved, we just couldn’t keep up with how fast things were moving.
- What do you love most about your new home?
The thing we love most about our new home is the stunning view of Mt Karioi and all the rad families living in the neighbourhood.
- How would you describe your Rangitahi lifestyle?
The lifestyle at Rangitahi is the perfect fit for our family. We love all the open spaces and nature, our boys can cycle to school and we’re so close to Wainui Beach and Manu Bay where we love to surf and play.
The dream.
We are thrilled to see this project now being live and enjoyed.
A blueprint for future projects alike.
